Bridgeport Promise Goals:
- Minimize financial barriers to attaining higher education
- Promote educational equity
- Increase college enrollment, access, and success
- Contribute to the local economy through increased earnings opportunities
- Improve neighborhoods
Student Criteria/Requirements:
- Is a Bridgeport Resident
- Has attended Bridgeport Public Schools continuously from grades 9-12
- Has 90%+ attendance rate
- Has a cumulative 3.0+ weighted GPA by high school graduation
- Has a positive disciplinary record throughout high school
- Has been accepted into a 2- or 4- year CT accredited college/university full-time (by their confirmed high school graduation date)
Maintaining Your Scholarship:
- 15 hours of community service annually
- Obtain a 2.0 GPA or higher per semester or as determined by your institution’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) guidelines.
- Attempt at least 15 credit hours you’ve never taken before each semester (not including withdrawals or retakes)
- Complete FAFSA and/or AACTUS application annually
- Be in good standing at your college (no holds)
- Submit required documentation in a timely manner
- Attend at least one Bridgeport Promise event per year
